Why asking For Referrals Doesn't Work

There's a wide lie in the chiropractic world - If you've been in practice for any length of time, you've probably heard it more than any other so-called "practice growth" strategy. That lie, of course, is "Asking your patients for referrals is the best marketing you can ever do!"

Of course, like most things that seem too good to be true, this is a strategy that falls apart when you try to bring it out of "Theory-Land" and into the real world.

Case Rack

You can for real create a Lot more referrals in your practice - but if you use the wrong strategy, you run the risk of putting your existing patients in an uncomfortable and awkward situation, alienating these patients, and still getting no new referrals

Why does just asking for referrals fare so poorly?

Most so-called practice increase experts don't seem to understand that you walk a Very fine line in your practice - Yes, it's a business, but first and foremost, it's a place where your patients come to heighten the potential of their lives.

Most practice increase programs & trainers seem to forget this indispensable first part - and try to force feed you with marketing strategies that may work elsewhere, but would be disastrous to put into place in your practice

However, the generic "asking for referrals" strategy doesn't even fall into this category - because just saying to a sick person or client in Any firm "Can you think of anybody that you might be able to refer to me" is an awful strategy Everywhere.

What you mean ... And what they hear

When most chiropractors say "Can you think of anybody who you could refer to my practice?" the fundamental message from Their point of view can approximately be translated as follows:

"I'm so glad that I've been able to help you over the last few months/years. Every time you come in, I can see the unlikeness between now and your first visit. I just want you to know that if there is anybody in your life who's going straight through what you were, who is in the pain that you were, that I'll do my best to help them, like I've helped you. I don't know if we'd be able to achieve the same level of success, but I'll do anyone I can to help them on the path to optimal health."

Unfortunately, more often than not, when you ask for referrals, your sick person doesn't hear that. Instead, he hears: "Can you think very hard, and rack your brain, to find a way to bring me more money? What you're paying me isn't sufficient - I want more."

Now, that's not a question you want to be putting to your patients, is it?

How to ask for referrals... And Get them

One of the simplest and most effective ways to ask for referrals is to supervene the Lsr model of referral generation. Its LaSeR focused and will give you great results.

Lsr stands for Limited, Specific, and Regular. Before we look at these elements, though, let's look a wee closer at why most referral requests fail.

Important considerations for any referral request

You have a Lot of expertise, and can help treat any estimate of conditions - But most of your patients will Only think of you in terms of what brought Them in.

Think about it this way - If I were to ask you "Do you know anybody who needs an accountant?" You would probably tell me "Sorry, no, can't think of anybody."

But what if I asked you "Do you know anybody who's started their own firm within the last 3 years? Do you know anybody who has kids entering university? Do you know anybody who's going straight through a divorce?"

These are all population who might advantage from speaking to a skilled accountant - but asking for them in this exact way makes it much more likely that you'll be able to think of somebody who fits Some of these criteria.

Can you see how this applies to your patients?

Okay, so now let's look at L, S, and R (out of order) as they refer to referral generation.

Specific

The idea here is to pick 1 or 2 things that you treat frequently, and ask your patients if they know anybody who is suffering from those ailments.

For example: "John, before you go, I wanted to ask you - Can you think of anybody in your life who suffers from throbbing head headaches?" Then wait. Give him time to think. If he says no, you can ask "Do you know anybody who's suffering from arthritis?" Again, give him time to think

You can clarify that you're asking because while you've had great success in treating many patients for those conditions, you know that there are many more population who are suffering straight through them needlessly - and if that's the case with any friends, family, or co-workers of John's, you want to do anyone you can to help.

Limited

Decide that you're going to spend a month asking your patients about these exact conditions, and only once per sick person within that month - So if you see John again in 2 weeks, you won't ask him then, because you asked him today.

Regular

This means that you want to convert the exact thing you're asking about on a regular basis - Usually, every month or two months works best.

That way, you can ask all of your patients about inherent referral opportunities in a much more effective way, and you can ask them a estimate of times over the course of a year.

Bringing truth to the great lie

The Lsr model for referral generation is one of the ways that you can help your patients bring in Many more referrals to your practice - without putting them in an awkward position, and without putting your association with them at risk.

The great lie of "asking for referrals" is that you just have to ask - Like the best lies, it has a kernel of truth to it. The Lsr model is part of what they don't tell you - namely, that unless you ask in the right way, you're likely to do more harm than good.

Camping Tent overview - selecting the Right Model

The first criterion for choosing the spoton tent is how many population the tent must accommodate. Tent sizes range from 1 person solo sizes to large 3 room 10 person capacity. Most outdoor adventure sizes range from 3 to 6 person capacity.

Another thing to consider when choosing a tent is its weight, ease of assembly and ease of setup. Tents vary widely in this regard. The good news is that there are many tents that offer lightweight construction and very quick setup. This is important when you are in the field and need to get a tent up fast to safe yourself and your gear from the elements.

Case Rack

Ruggedness should always be a concern if you plan on doing a lot of setup and takedown of your tent. What you want to look for is heavy duty sewing on the seams and zipper pads throughout the tent. In addition, the frame rods should be able to deal with lots of flexing and repeated assembly. In some cases, you'll need to balance weight, ease of setup and ruggedness factors in picking the right tent for your needs.

Selecting accessories to go along with your tent is also very important. Be sure to settle on a tent that comes with a weather resistant tent floor. If it doesn't, you should order a tent floor that is made for your tent or one that has the spoton size. Tent floors typically cost under and make a big incompatibility in terms of ease and holding dry.

One other accessory that you should consider getting for your tent is a vestibule or gear rack. These flexible storage areas attach to the inside corners or sides of your tent and supply a way for you to stow gear, clothing or anything else you need easy entrance to.

How I Used Humor to Survive and Thrive In Today's competing enterprise Environment!

I recently found myself being burned out at work and so I decided to instill some much needed Humor into my personal and expert life. I had been a sales menagerial for the last 15 years, I was making a very comfortable living and all things looked great on the outside, but on the inside I was of course doing more crying than laughing. I was on the rode traveling 4 days per week, my marriage was on the rocks and I believe I was suffering from a mild case of depression. That's when a chance encounter with a stranger changed my life.

At the time, I was employed as a Sales Director for Boca research and I was responsible for our company's booth at Comdex in Toronto Canada, the largest computer show in the country. I flew up a few months early to interview some extra events clubs to fabricate ideas and a theme for the show. I had all the time used humor as an effective business and communications tool and I wanted to employ a firm that would fabricate a creative and fun theme and promotional campaign for the trade show.

Case Rack

I interviewed 3 firms and decided on one that came up with the idea of a circus theme. They recommend a 3 ring circus venue with circus performers that would rove straight through our space and speak with clients and achieve stock demonstrations. One of the performers and I struck up a close relationship while the show and started doing stock demos together. His name was Jim Ince. Jim was a seasoned performer that studied at the Sorbonne in France and was very well known in the Toronto Area.

That night I invited Jim to supper to become better acquainted and pick his brain for some creative ideas. I mentioned to Jim that I of course enjoyed performing with him and I wanted to fabricate my improvisation skill. Jim knew I lived in Chicago, Il and he recommend that I look into taking some classes at Second City. After I returned from the show I called The Players Workshop of The Second City and signed up for their 2 year program,"Creative Expression straight through Improvisation". The agenda took us straight through the creative process of Improv, culminating with the students writing, directing and producing our own "Saturday Night Live" show on The Second City Main stage. This was truly a colossal palpate and I learned so much. But what I of course learned was that I truly had a gift and passion for Imrov and I wanted to take my life in a new direction.

My business had also agreed to partake in the world's largest computer show, Comdex. This international trade show is held in Las Vegas every fall ands of course attracts over 3 million citizen in a one-week period. This particular year, I was charged with running the Boca both. In additional to all the other duties connected with the show set-up and booth management, I was assigned to provide an intelligent giveaway item to attract citizen to the booth.

I put on my creative sales hat and view long and hard about what would be an innovative, creative and cost-effective way to get client and media attention. I had been racking my brain one evening and came up with only a few lackluster concepts, so I took a break and went out to supper and a movie with my wife and some close friends. After dinner, I had some time to kill before the movie started so we went for a walk.We happened to come across a novelty store, wandered in and took a look around. One particular item caught my eye - a propeller beanie sitting on a shelf between a pair of Groucho Marx glasses and a pail full of unidentifiable gadgets. This was an absurd itsybitsy hat - too small to fit a typical human head - with a propeller boldly affixed to the top. My creative intuition told me I must wear this cap. To the chagrin of my wife, I wandered around the store seeing like a complete fool, but I was struck by a thought: "Technical People" are generally referred to as "Propeller Heads" maybe there's a tie-in!"

This was not just a new way to amuse myself and embarrass my wife; this would be an perfect commerce connected gimmick! After checking into the price, I realized this was too good to pass up. I decided to order a gross and emboss the phrase "The Boca Beanie" across the front and give them to current and possible clients.

I was amazed at the overwhelmingly obvious response. Clients were falling all over themselves spinning the itsybitsy propellers absurdly standing atop their heads. I relayed this facts to my marketing group and after some additional consideration; they pick to follow my idea and purchase 25,000 propeller beanies. When my sales staff and I started giving them away at the show, the response was overwhelming. Boca had the hottest giveaway and the most booth traffic at the show, even more than Microsoft and Ibm! Lines of citizen sneaked straight through the floor of the presentation hall, blocking other booths, protection had to be called d for crowd control, waiting to get to the Boca booth to get their hands on a "Boca Beanie". As I frantically tried to demonstrate my products, and as an overwhelmingly whole of citizen crowded around me, I yelled ""Be cool, don't be a fool and get your free Boca Beanie". It wasn't long before the media got wind of the beanie. Before I was done spinning my propeller, I was interviewed on the Cbs Evening News with Dan Rather, featured in Usa Today, The Wall road Journal and in all the commerce trade publications.

This was of course the most effective sales tool I had ever employed-simple, fun and a itsybitsy wacky. Most important, the inquiries and sales orders that followed were very impressive! We set a business sales narrative because of the "Boca Beanie". Humorous ideas attack at the oddest times- you can't force a great idea, it's born from your creativity and attentiveness to the world around you. A new study published in a major business publication stated that "of over 700 Ceo's, over 98% of them indicated they would much rather hire somebody with a good sense of humor than somebody without one."

So, if you are scratching your head seeing to solve a business problem, look to humor, it can pay huge dividends and you can have a few Laughs in the process!!!

Horse Racing Bets - The Each Way Angle

Horse racing bets don't come much great than this! As far as I am involved this bet is the one bet that needs perfecting. With the right knowledge of how and when to place this type of bet, your betting success can sky rocket. The very ultimate in horse racing bets for sure.

We have already explained the basic use of the win singular bet in this series. We now need to focus on the use of this most beneficial of horse racing bets. It is not the easiest thing to expound to those new to the game. Any way every singular horse racing punter must adopt this approach.

Case Rack

I personally know one of the most horse betting minds ever to grace this planet. This approach, he and many others like him including myself, use daily to make money betting on horses.

To place an each way bet, is naturally to place two bets at the same time. Instead of having your entire £10 stake on a win single. You would place £5 each way. Each way being, you now have a £5 win singular bet and you also have a £5 place bet.

Place meaning that your horse needs to discontinue in the lawful places for a race to procure that part of your bet. If you hit the jackpot and your horse wins, then you are paid out on both sections of your bet. If your horse were to discontinue exterior of the lawful places then you would lose your entire stake money.

Psychologically each way betting when you know what you are doing, is far superior than backing win singles. It is easy to rack up a string of losers when betting to win only. However, with feel well settled each way bets are far more likely to show a return. The place part of the bet can be used to protect the win stake if the mathematics are correct. We will go in to this later on in one of our more intermediate lessons.

The lawful places for a race vary with conditions, but currently the conditions look like this:

Number of runners/type of race Place terms

2-4 runners / No place betting allowed
5-7 runners / 1st and 2nd one quarter the odds
8 + runners / 1st, 2nd and 3rd one fifth odds
Handicaps 12-15 runners / 1st, 2nd and 3rd one quarter odds
Handicaps 16 + runners / 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th one quarter odds

You can see clearly that in races of less with less than four horses, no each way betting is allowed.

Example: £10 each way bet (Totals £20) on a 4/1 horse that wins in a 14 runner handicap would return:

£10(each way stake)x4(winning odds)= 40. 40/4(1/4 place term win)= 10. The sum added equals your behalf £40+£10 = £50 profit.

The same £10 when the horse finished whether 2nd, 3rd or 4th would look like the following. Now this gets confusing, remember you have to surmise what the sum total of your win bet Would have been and then divide this by your place terms. This will then give you your return form for the place part of your bet!

£10 each way bet (Totals £20) Win place loses -£10 (win stake lost) + 40/4 (place term win) = 10. The sum added equals your return in this case £0. You lose the £10 staked on the win side of your bet because it lost. You win £10 with the place return and also receive your original place stake back. Returning your £20 stake and losing or gaining you nothing.

You will get used to the numbers as you progress, and it will become easier and you can surmise in your mind how much your return will be. For help in calculating the potential winnings or absolutely losses for any bet, use one of the many free online betting calculators.

This bet is ultra noteworthy if you know what you are doing. Professional punters use it all the time to basically 'hedge' their selections. They use this when whether betting on a horse at a big price, or absolutely when they feel that their option must at least place.

We will go in to the deeper values and uses of this superb betting tactic later in the series. Just begin to understand that this is naturally one of the very best horse racing bets available.

permissible Golf Putter Fitting - Why a Face-Balanced Adjustable Putter is needful For Good Putting

The capability to adjust the lie angle gives the golfer the opportunity for a excellent fit. The putter can be adjusted to fit the golfer rather than the golfer having to adjust to the putter. A lie angle adjustment highlight will allow the golfer to make sure the putter head is soled properly (flat on the ground) at address while taking a precise posture. This is vitally prominent for putters with face loft. recent laser laboratory studies have shown that even a four degree error in lie angle setting can cause a directional error of over 1.4 inches at a length of ten feet.

Face balancing is needful for a allowable level back to level straight through putting stroke. Using a rear mounted center shaft can give a face balanced putter design. If proper lie angle limit provisions are made, the putter can be a Usga conforming adjustable lie angle construct which remains face balanced at any lie angle.

Case Rack

If a putter offers an adjustable lie angle, the golfer can now be fitted for the allowable length putter. Thus achieving his desired position with eyes over the ball/target line. The golfer should set up to the ball with his arms hanging naturally straight. They should not be flexed or rigid. The basic putting stroke is finished with a one piece petition of the triangle formed by the hands and arms in gripping the putter.

Recently while conducting a putting clinic at a local country club I noticed three consistent violations of allowable putter fitting essentials.

1) Incorrect Length

Some men and nearly all women golfers, beginners and experienced alike, were gripping down on their putters by 3 to 4 inches because they were using putters that were too long. The top sections of most putter grips have flat areas to support with alignment and to help forestall over using the wrists. When the golfers gripped down 3 to 4 inches, their hands were down near the steel shaft. This kept them from getting the benefit of the flat portions of the grip. This question could assuredly be solved by cutting the shaft down to the precise length and installing a new grip. This relatively reasonable task can be fast done by most pro shops or golf shops.

2) Incorrect Lie Angle Setup

Many of the golfers had either the toe or heel of their putter off of the ground at address or else they were standing with their eyes positioned well inside of the ball location in order to keep their putter heads flat on the ground at address. In most of these cases they were using putters with lie angles that were incorrect for their corporeal size and putting posture. Those golfers who addressed the ball with the putter heel or toe in the air were creating alignment and stroke errors, and addition the chances of catching part of the putter on the ground in a way that would twist the putter head off line. Those golfers addressing their putts with their eyes considerably inside of the ball/target line were creating alignment difficulties. These areas can be fast checked by getting a friend to gawk their putting address position or using a "ball drop" drill. The golfer takes their normal putting posture keeping a golf ball at the tip of their nose. Then they drop the ball and note where it landed relative to their feet/stance. Where the ball landed gives them the precise ball location at setup.

3) Incorrect Weight

Most golfers were using proper "off the rack" putters regardless of either they were too heavy or too light for them. They were having to fit themselves to their putter. allowable weight setup for a putter is the key to good length control and stroke consistency. Depending on relative hand/arm strength, green speed, playing conditions and even personal preference from day to day the capability for the golfer to adjust the weight of his putter is a key to putting success.

The significance of allowable putter face balance, length, lie angle and weight in golf putter fitting can not be overstated. These areas are vital to helping the golfer come to be the best putter they can be.
